50 Foot Wave50 Foot Wave is the latest band of Kristin Hersh's, whose solo recordings I really love. But gone are the quiet, reflective solo acoustic work that drew me in - these new incendiary recordings with a full band (including Bernard Georges who also played bass in Throwing Muses with her before), are in fact almost hardcore at times. Here, her voice screams like an air raid siren or screeches with the strain of a buckling piece of structural steel. In addition to breaking my heart, she can also kick arse. Dude - that is so cool.
