Mr. Airplane ManI know what you're going to say. "Why does the world need yet another guitar and drums blues duo?" I wish you wouldn't talk like that. There might be children listening. Sure, Margaret Garrett and Tara McManus have superb feel for the blues, and here is where you could name drop current folks the Black Keys, the White Stripes and their ilk - but Margaret and Tara work in so much more. Everything from tinges of Northern Soul to the occasional flares of 60s girl group pop to that dirty garage band sound, but not clumsily-hewn - one listen to the details, the melodies, the variety of guitar tones and drum breaks spread across their songs and you know that it is created by folks who really know what they're doing. There's a genuine soul to their music, and it's a real treat to listen to. Links of note:
