Amon Tobin

I will freely admit that I bought Amon Tobin's album 'Supermodified' solely as a result of stumbling across his webpage, which is one of the most astounding pieces of web art I think I've ever seen (go here: http://www.amontobin.com, but make sure you have speakers hooked up for full effect). 'Supermodified' is a perfect description of the album - it incorporates drum and bass electronic rhythms - but the beats shift around too much for it to be considered a pure 'dance' album per se. It incorporates samples of jazz instrumentation, but it's distant enough from jazz to make Ken Burns shudder. Mutated jazz seen through electronic beats, darkly.
