AntibalasAntibalas formed in 1998, one year after Nigerian musician Fela Kuti passed away. They owe him much, picking up a number of songs from his repertoire, and carrying on his afrobeat style of music, blending elements of African sound with funk. I finally managed to catch them live, and as I expected, the seductive power of the rhythms and the blast of the band's massive arsenal of horns from the 14 or so members of the band easily ensnared clubgoers like mice before the Pied Piper.
