Buena Vista Social Club

Back in 1996, Ry Cooder went to Cuba to assemble a who's who of Cuban jazz - the result was an amazing album (also called Buena Vista Social Club), which has since sold huge quantities. While the group was coming together, a documentary was also shot, which has just recently been released to the silver screen, perhaps in a theater near you (the film is also conveniently called Buena Vista Social Club). This seems to be a favorite refrain of mine, but go see them now, or you'll be sorry - a number of the members are between 70 and 90 years old, and won't be wandering far from Cuba for much longer. If you're interested in catching one of these shows, BUY YOUR TICKETS EARLY. I understand several may have already sold out.
