OK, it's like this. I first saw Mr. Z-Trip open for DJ Shadow and Cut Chemist on their Product Placement tour in late 2001, and he absolutely blew the roof off the club. A turntablist par excellence, Z-Trip uses nothing but records and turntables to blend sounds together in new and wondrous ways. Not content to spin and mix simply the same old hip hop and funk, he regularly ventures into rock - everything from Midnight Oil to Ratt, blending in elements of Madonna and Glen Campbell back into Public Enemy. It's impossible to witness the collision of talent and whimsy of a Z-Trip gig without smiling, and for that I feel very comfortable giving him Richard's Moneyback Guarantee. If you go see his show, and don't love it, I'll buy your ticket. You can't lose.
