The Handsome Family

There is truth in advertising. Brett and Rennie Sparks are in fact a family - and one could easily go as far as to say that they're handsome. Together, they perform great twangy tunes - Rennie writes the words and Brett sings. The funny thing about their songs is that it's really quite easy to let the swell, catchy melodies rush past - but every once in a while, you catch yourself thinking "Wait - is that song really about a girl that gets carried away by crows?" or "Wait - is that song really about a guy that drowns by falling asleep in the sea?" or "Wait - is that song really about Amelia Earhart picking lemons with William Randolph Hearst?" The answer is most often yes in these cases. Just between you and me, I think they're looped. But in a good way.
