Lee FieldsI don't think it's an accident that Desco Records ("Guaranteed Heavy, Heavy Funk") left any mention of the recording date off of Lee Fields' album "Let's Get a Groove On". Going by sound alone, it would be easy to put it back somewhere amongst the super soul sounds of the late 60s and 70s. In the end, though, seeing the label's website address at the bottom kind of gives away the secret that this is a recent affair - late 1990s. If you ever dreamed of seeing James Brown in a small club, seeing Mr. Fields would probably be a decent second. I've never seen him live as he doesn't get out of NYC that often. Links of note:
