M83Somehow, the duo of Nicholas Fromageau and Anthony Gonzalez have harnessed the sounds of liquid - the splatters, oozing, drenching textures of amorphous undulance. Where some would cascade wave upon wave of guitar-borne feedback, the duo of M83 achieve this weighty sonic saturation instead through a cascading of what sound like old analog synthesizers. To date, it's been rare for them to find their way out of their native France, so tally-ho, I say. Thankfully, their excellent CD "Dead cities, red seas, & lost ghosts" has finally been released in the US, so if they're not visiting your fine town, you have another option. Links of note:
