Mustard Plug

Quick refresher on ska - in essence, fast, happy reggae with lots of trumpet, trombone, sometimes sax. I have generally been quite disappointed with the new wave of ska which has either been severely horn-impaired or is really just nouveau punk looking for a new moniker. For me, unfortunately, ska without horns is kind of like pizza without crust - why bother? Mustard Plug does not suffer from that pitfall - they have plenty of horns, in fact at one point, they even had "The Three Hornmen of the Skapocalypse" which just might be a little pretentious, but I'll try not to pass too much judgement. I haven't heard from them in a while, but the last time I checked in, they had a bizarre sense of what songs should be written about - chewing gum, crimes in Amsterdam, insomnia, baseball, and romantic interludes with a Martian.
