Neko Case & her Boyfriends

Onetime vocalist of punk band Maow, Neko Case is not your typical country diva - but don't let that scare you away - her voice reminds me quite a lot of Emmylou Harris circa mid 1970s, Loretta Lynn, and every once in a while when things slow down, just a touch of Patsy Cline. This is a good thing. At one point, she went by "Neko Case and her Boyfriends", and one of her "Boyfriends" was at one time in the Canadian band "Shadowy Men on a Shadowy Planet" (better known perhaps for writing the 'Kids in the Hall' theme song). However, on 2002's "Blacklisted", she enlisted the talented guys from Calexico, yielding a more acoustic sound, less honky tonk than her last two albums. And boy does it sound nice.
