Apparently, Sally Timms is/was a vocalist in the punk/country band the Mekons - news to me as I don't know them at all, and couldn't even pick them out of a lineup standing next to a Welsh carrot. Thanks to my friend Pete who kindly gave me her solo album several Christmases ago, I can report that her solo effort is a dreamy collection of mellow country numbers of her own creation, as well as covers of Johnny Cash and others. Real purty stuff. I was just listening to her first solo album "To the Land of Milk & Honey" the other night, and it occurred to me that Sally Timms is at times rather evocative of Margo Timmins of the Cowboy Junkies.
