I'm going to apologize right from the outset for saying that if I didn't know better, I would think that Scout Niblett's 'Sweet Heart Fever' was an old, unreleased Cat Power session. Something about the heartbreak of Emma Louise Niblett's bluesy coo or her melancholy guitar really gets me the same way that some of Chan Marshall's earlier recordings do. It's cool, damp, and rainy right now in LA, I've got the blinds drawn, and 'Sweet Heart Fever' is keeping me company on this quiet, dark evening. "Do you want the stars to play with, or the moon to run away with? They'll come if you don't cry..."
