Sky Cries Mary

Sadly, Sky Cries Mary have broken up...

As good as their studio albums are, I would venture to say that Sky Cries Mary is something to be experienced live. By just listening to the music, how could you see singer Anisa Romero's subtle slinky movements and look of strained concentration? How could you be completely enveloped in an inviting wall of sound that was, if I may go off the descriptive deep-end for a moment, like a warm blanket of heart-shaking bass and striking rhythm that soaks up all of the air in the venue and holds everything in its sway? I'm aware that the words 'spiritual experience' and 'rock concert' generally don't end up in the same sentence, but I have to say that they are capable of truly powerful, gripping performances.
